POLLINATOR MURAL

Design Objective: Design and paint a mural that helps communicate aspects of sustainability, while incorporating graphics that tell an educational story about life cycles that exist in nature. Much of this design shows the symbiotic relationships between plants and pollinating species, all of which play an important role in pollinating native flowers, plants, and food crops in the state of Colorado.

The circular life cycles of each pollinator reveal another layer of depth that allows us to see the passage of time, maybe a season, perhaps a year. The cycle again shows nature's tendency to sustain itself cyclically. Nature provides many examples of seasonal change, symbiotic growth, as well as long-term sustainability. The more we observe and study nature, the more likely we are to recognize what it means to be sustainable. What lessons can nature teach us about ourselves, our collective relationship with our world,  and long-term sustainability?

Mural created with Denver’s Butterfly Pavilion and Denver Premium Outlets, a Simon center.
