ART SPOT — MAKERSPACE MURAL
Design Objective: Design and paint a mural for the Art Spot Makerspace in Silverthorne, CO. The main objectives of this mural were to transform the exterior of this building with a design that commands your attention while also communicating information about what's going on inside the building.
Visual elements include tools, drawing implements, and specific technologies that exist within creative maker spaces. Hands interacting with these tools and objects show participation in active creativity and process work. Hands working with other hands show the importance of working together, embracing collaboration, and sharing knowledge.
The "patchwork" design was chosen as a solution to fully integrate the visual elements across the building's paintable surfaces - most of which are broken apart by structural columns, windows, alcoves, and large garage doors. It was once an active fire station!
